What is RadarCube OlapChart?

RadarCube OlapChart is a visual OLAP control (TOLAPChart) written on C# 2.0 that brings in the Visual Analysis technology to RadarCube users. While RadarCube Grid allows working with numbers, RadarCube OlapChart allows representing your data graphically. This gives users a unique opportunity to analyze their business data visually, dealing with charts rather than numbers, which is much easier to perceive.

What is RadarCube Grid?

RadarCube Grid is a visual OLAP control (TOLAPGrid) that displays multidimensional data in the forms of numbers. It cannot display charts and graphs. For that purpose the OlapChart component is used. RadarCube Grid was the only visual control for displaying multidimensional data until RadarCube Windows Forms version 2.0.

What is the difference between RadarCube Grid and RadarCube OlapChart?

While RadarCube Grid displays only numbers RadarCube OlapChart represents your data visually in the form of charts and graphs. So the same OLAP data can be viewed either in the Grid or in OlapChart but in different forms.

Do RadarCube Grid and OlapChart have something in common?

Grid and OlapChart are simply different controls for displaying multidimensional data provided by an OLAP cube. So both Grid and OlapChart need the cube control to display data from. It can be TMDCube (MS Analysis Cube engine) or TOLAPCube (relational cube engine) controls depending on what data source you connect to. Also Grid and OlapChart use common .NET assemblies, which makes them perfectly work together or separately.

Is OlapChart an upgrade to RadarCube?

No, it is not. While RadarCube provides only Grid displaying numbers, OlapChart is a completely different control which displays charts instead of numbers. Because these are different controls they must be purchased separately.

Can OlapChart work without RadarCube Grid?

Yes, OlapChart doesn’t require Grid, but it requires the cube control that provides multidimensional data to display. So if you don’t have Grid you will always have the cube control: TMDCube (MS Analysis Cube engine) or TOLAPCube (relational cube engine).

Can OlapChart connect to MS Analysis Services cubes?

Yes, OlapChart perfectly supports MS Analysis Services 2000, 2005, and 2008. It can work with both live connections and local cubes.

What are the data sources OlapChart can connect to?

RadarCube OlapChart can use any data source be it a relational database or a multidimensional cube. You can construct your multidimensional cube from a relational database and then display it in RadarCube OlapChart. Or you can simply connect to MS Analysis Services OLAP cube to see its multidimensional data visually.

Does OlapChart support Visual Studio 2008?

Yes, it supports Visual Studio 2000, 2005, 2008 or their Express editions.

Can I change the look and feel of the component?

Surely! You can set up a look and feel of the component selecting from the standard color schemes like MS Office 2003, Windows Vista, etc., or defining your own display style.

Can I restrict the certain functionality for my end users?

Yes, you can disable certain operations like drilling, pivoting, sorting, grouping, etc, so that your end users are not able to perform them.
